Today's reading: Genesis 16, 17, 18; Psalm 6, 36, 66, 96, 126; Proverbs 6
"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest." Proverbs 6:6-8.
It is the first week of the New Year and I am so proud of my wife for not making "New Year's Resolutions". They are so easily broken. She was given a very popular exercise board that connects to a game console. It comes with exercising game software. I also gave her an exercise game that is from a popular weight loss game show that is popular on television right now. The reason I mention this is because she has not missed a day using it since December 26, 2009. I; on the other hand, have done much the opposite. I got on the thing and was so depressed that I nearly tied a noodle around my neck and jumped out the window of our one story home. Ha,ha!
I am proud of my wife for her commitment. My problem is clearly set forth in our verses today. The word "sluggard" would be the particular word I am referring to. This is the Bible way of saying that I am lazy. That was hard for me to admit. Now that it is out in the open I should begin to work against it and ultimately overcoming it. Easily said... Not so easily done.
In my current line of work; unemployment, there are many a so-called guru or expert that will help me overcome this sad state of affairs I find myself entangled in. The problem lies in that they will do it for a small nominal fee somewhere under $100 per hour. Ouch! Besides, their couch is not comfortable at all and it makes my back hurt really bad.
I guess I will simply continue in my sin or I will continue to prayerfully search the Scriptures (Bible), work and pray for real change. This is the kind of change that comes from the inside out. It is real godly change. It takes work; but, we are not alone in this endeavour. God will come right along beside of us to help. Will you join me or will you continue to ride the roller coaster of resolutions? It is your choice. Really it is.
